Bekasi Wushu Athlete Wins Gold at World Championship

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Bekasi Regency athlete Tasya Ayu Puspa Dewi (24) claimed a gold medal at the prestigious 3rd Taolu World Cup in Yokohama, Japan, held from 23 to 28 October 2024. 

Competing in nanquan and nandao events, she won gold in nanquan with a top score of 9.773, beating athletes from Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Nanquan, meaning Southern fist, emphasizes powerful techniques and fluid movements, while nandao, meaning Southern sword, focuses on sword techniques and practicality.

“Tasya achieved the highest score in the final today, surpassing competitors from Malaysia and Hong Kong,” said her coach, Yadi Suryadi, as quoted by antaranews..com on Sunday (27/10/2024)

Tasya also earned silver in the nandao event, with gold going to China’s Wu Jianing and bronze to Lucy Lee of the United States. Expressing her joy, 

Tasya said that she did not expect to win gold and called for greater support from sports authorities, particularly the Bekasi Regency National Sports Committee (KONI).
