Inp.polri.go.id - Blora. The Blora Sub-regional Police Central Java have launched an investigation into a fatal case of animal cruelty after a video showing a man kicking a cat to death went viral. 

The incident, which occurred at Kridosono Field, sparked national outrage after the 11-second clip was uploaded to TikTok. Authorities confirmed on Monday (2/2/2026) that they have identified and questioned a suspect, a local resident identified by the initials PJ, following a formal report from the pet's owner.

"We are investigating the circulating information, including the identity of the alleged perpetrator, and collecting witness statements," said Blora Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Zaenul Arifin, as cited by antaranews.com

The suspect potentially faces charges under Article 337 of the Criminal Code on  animal abuse, which carries stricter penalties if the act results in death. 

According to the owner, the unprovoked attack happened during a morning walk, and the perpetrator allegedly responded with threats when confronted. Animal rights advocates have called for a transparent legal process to ensure accountability and deter future violence against animals in public spaces.
