Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Indonesia officially announced Sunday (1/2/2026) that a red notice has been issued for oil and gas businessman Riza Chalid.
The notice, which was finalized on 23 January 2026, marked a significant escalation in the government's pursuit of the businessman, who has long been a figure of interest in various high-profile legal cases in Indonesia.
Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, the Secretary of NCB Interpol Indonesia, said that the bureau is now coordinating with international counterparts and the Interpol Headquarters in Lyon, France, to locate and arrest the fugitive.
"NCB Interpol fully supports law enforcement steps against perpetrators who flee abroad. This Red Notice is a global request for law enforcement agencies to locate and provisionally arrest the individual," Chief Untung explained, as cited by antaranews.com
He emphasized that the issuance was the result of a "long road" and intense cross-agency collaboration involving both domestic ministries and international organizations dedicated to fugitive recovery.
Riza Chalid's whereabouts have been a subject of speculation for years, particularly following a corruption scandal and subsequent investigations into oil and gas procurement. The Red Notice effectively turned him into an international fugitive, restricting his movement across 196 member countries.
