Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has reported GRIB Jaya, a civil society organization, locally known as ormas, to the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police for allegedly occupying and using 127,780 square meters of state-owned land in Pondok Betung, South Tangerang, Banten, without authorization.
“BMKG requests authorities to take action against GRIB Jaya for unlawfully occupying and exploiting BMKG’s state land,” said Acting Head of BMKG’s Legal, Public Relations, and Cooperation Bureau, Akhmad Taufan Maulana, on Tuesday (20/5/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The land, certified as state-owned and upheld by several court rulings including a Supreme Court decision, has been disrupted for nearly two years. Construction of a BMKG archive building, started in November 2023, was halted by group members claiming to be heirs and forcing workers to stop activities.
BMKG seeks police assistance to clear the occupation, protect state assets, and resume the important public service project supporting institutional transparency.
