Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Customs and Excise, uncovered a clandestine drug laboratory linked to a global syndicate inside an apartment in South Jakarta on 16 January 2025, uncovering narcotics-laced vape production and arresting two foreign citizens.
The operation took place at Sudirman Tower Condominium following public tips and intelligence-led surveillance.
“This illegal laboratory was producing vape liquids containing etomidate, a Category II narcotic, as part of an international distribution network,” said BNN Director for Psychotropics and Precursors Aldrin Hutabarat on Saturday (17/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The suspects, identified as TK and MK, were arrested after investigators tracked suspicious cargo movements from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to the apartment. Officers seized nearly five liters of etomidate liquid, 3,000 vape cartridges, mixing equipment, cash, mobile phones, and travel documents. Authorities said the drugs were intended for wider circulation using new concealment methods.
The suspects face severe charges under Indonesia’s Narcotics Law, carrying penalties up to life imprisonment or death.
