Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ferry Walintuka explained that the plane was carrying 442 people. The passengers were hajj pilgrims who had just arrived in Indonesia.
"Yes, they were hajj pilgrims returning to Indonesia. We received the information from the co-pilot," said Ferry to the media, Tuesday (6/17/2025).
According to him, the co-pilot said that there was a bomb threat and decided to make an emergency landing.
He explained that from the co-pilot's confession, the threat came from outside the plane. Currently, the investigation process is still ongoing by the Bomb Squad.
