inp.polri.go.id - Bandung.  The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), stated that the shutdown of the skincare factory in Bandung for 30 days was part of the sanctions for violations related to the type of blue label cosmetics.

Deputy for Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics of BPOM, Mohamad Kashuri said that this was an effort to supervise post-marketing, after the distribution permit was issued in order to maintain the consistency of its production according to the permit submitted.

"The shutdown is a warning, so that later when the time comes for them to reopen, they will operate according to regulations and their safe product standards," he said on Wednesday (10/16/2024).

He further said that if they remain stubborn in their operation, there are criminal sanctions that can be imposed such as shut down for years and a fine of billions of rupiah.

On that occasion, he also said that public awareness of a product must be improved with current technological developments such as e-commerce, to digital messaging groups that allow peer-to-peer trading transactions.

He said that his party could not control, or supervise the cosmetic industry alone, so that the public was invited to join in the effort in monitoring the industry together. As consumers, people are urged not to buy products that promise unreasonable results such as promising for clear white skin after 1-2 days of use.

Regarding blue label cosmetics, he explains that this type of cosmetics cannot be sold freely, because this product requires a prescription from a doctor.

According to him, the industry has a responsibility that every composition of its products must be maintained in accordance with what is registered and stated as safe by BPOM.
