Inp.polri.go.id - Poso.   Following a 5.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Poso, Central Sulawesi, the Mobile Brigade Unit (Brimob) of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police has set up a field kitchen to support displaced residents.

“We deployed our personnel to deliver humanitarian aid through field kitchens and search and rescue operations,” said Brimob Commander Senior Superintendent Kurniawan Tandi Rongre on Monday (28/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The initiative, part of Operation Aman Nusa II, aims to meet the basic needs of more than 2,000 evacuees. Brimob personnel from Battalion B Pelopor are distributing ready-to-eat meals at the evacuation site in Tolambo Village, Southeast Pamona District.

Rongre added that this mission reflects the police's commitment to public service during crises. Coordination with disaster response agencies and local authorities continues.

The Meteorology Agency (BMKG) confirmed the shallow quake was triggered by a strike-slip movement along the Poso Fault. According to the Central Sulawesi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), at least 106 homes were damaged and four villages severely affected.
