Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State logistics company Bulog is set to expand its mandate to manage nine essential food commodities as it transitions into an autonomous body.
President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani announced on Saturday (7/2/2026) that the state logistics firm will move beyond its current focus on rice and corn to include cooking oil, sugar, eggs, milk, soybeans, and other vital staples to strengthen national food security.
"President Prabowo Subianto hopes that Bulog will grow larger in the future, similar to the era of Bustanil Arifin, managing various strategic commodities," he said during the Panen Fest 2026 talk show in Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com
The transformation, currently being finalized by Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR), aims to shift Bulog away from a commercial BUMN profit-loss model.
By becoming a non-commercial buffer agency, Bulog intends to stabilize market prices and supply more effectively. Officials expected to implement this new structure within 2026 to accelerate Indonesia’s goal of achieving food self-sufficiency by 2027.
