Central Sulawesi Police Foil 25 Kg Drug Smuggling Attempt in Donggala

Inp.polri.go.id - Palu.  The Central Sulawesi Regional Police have intercepted an attempt to smuggle 25 kilograms of methamphetamine in the Donggala District area.
Senior Superintendent Djoko Wienarto, the Head of Public Relations for the Central Sulawesi Police, disclosed that the Narcotics Investigation Directorate received a tip-off regarding a planned methamphetamine transaction in Donggala, destined for Sidrap, South Sulawesi. At around 8:30 pm on 31 March 2024 , the suspect, AM (42), was arrested in Donggala. Police confiscated 25 packets of methamphetamine, two packaging sacks, and a mobile phone as evidence. "The suspect, hailing from South Sulawesi, was authorized to collect the goods on orders from a boss identified by the initials E and retrieve them from K in Malaysia," explained Chief Djoko. The methamphetamine, sourced from Tarakan, North Kalimantan, was being transported by ship alongside four crew members, with plans for distribution in South Sulawesi. While the four crew members were not detained, investigations are ongoing. Senior Superintendent Dasmin Ginting, the Director of the Central Sulawesi Narcotics Investigation Directorate, revealed that the suspect was promised Rp. 100 million to oversee the drugs until reaching their destination. The suspect faces charges under the Narcotics Law, which carries a maximum penalty of death.
