inp.polri.go.id - Lumajang. Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo visited directly the handling of the Mount Semeru eruption disaster in Lumajang, East Java, Monday (6/12/2021). In this review, the Chief of Indonesian National Police saw the readiness of a joint task force from the National Search and Rescue Agency, National Board for Disaster Management, the Provincial Government, Indonesian National Armed Forces and Indonesian National Police in carrying out steps ranging from evacuation to handling survivors. "We see the readiness of the task force to take steps starting from how to treat people found in injured condition. Then there is also the readiness of the Disaster Victim Identification team to get input from the surrounding community, which is carried out with evacuation and search activities for people who are reported missing. It was reported that 22 people were found, and there was a process of identifying antemortem and postmortem. Then, Sigit said a joint task force activity also managed people to go to refugee camps because their places of residence were affected. In addition, the joint task force also carried out trauma healing for victims of the eruption. "Everything is going well. Friends from the National Search and Rescue Agency, National Board for Disaster Management, Indonesian National Armed Forces, Indonesian National Police are all working very well in synergy," said Sigit. The former Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police explained that the joint task force took several steps in the short and medium-term after Mount Semeru eruption. In the short term, the joint task force will continue the search and evacuation process for victims who have not been found. "Then, in the medium term, we received a lot of input and hope from the community because there was a broken bridge connecting the Lumajang location to Malang," said the former Chief of Banten Regional Police. According to him, this is important and urgent steps need to be taken to create alternative transportation routes so that the distribution of aid and treatment of the injured can run well. "This requires quick steps for new alternative transportation routes. This is very important, of course, to send aid distribution and further treatment for the victims who are currently being treated because some conditions have improved, some are in critical condition, and there is treatment in the hospital," he said. Sigit also asked the joint task force to relocate the community around the eruption of Mount Semeru. This is done so that there are no more casualties in the event of further eruptions. "Once again, we give encouragement to our colleagues on duty, and we hope that all post-disaster activities can really be carried out properly and all of them can carry out daily activities after the stages carried out," he said. On that occasion, Sigit took the time to directly inspect the disaster emergency post, the handling of the hospital, the Disaster Victim Identification post and the trauma healing place.
