The South Sulawesi Regional Police's Intelligence and Security Directorate held a focus group discussion (FGD) entitled Political Literacy in the 2021 Village Head Election Contest (Pilkades) at the Harper Hotel, Perintis avenue, Makassar, Monday (24/5/2021). The South Sulawesi Police Chief, Police Inspector General Merdisyam, Chairman of the South Sulawesi Election Committee, Faisal Amir; Chairman of the South Sulawesi Election watch, Laode Arumahi, two academician Andi Ali Armunanto and Luhur A. Priyanto, also the Head of the South Sulawesi Village association, Sri Rahayu Asmi, then the Director of Intelligence and Security for the South Sulawesi Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Dwi Suryo Cahyono. On this occasion, Police Inspector General Merdisyam said that the village head election (pilkades) was a very popular democratic party and had very complex problems. "The level of vulnerability and security of the Pilkades is so complex. The vulnerability is quite high, money politics cannot be avoided. Nepotism is already entrenched and collusion is difficult to avoid," explained General Two Star. The Head of South Sulawesi Police added that in the Pilkades until now there was no rule or legal standing that could regulate political events at the village level. "On this occasion I convey a suggestion that in the future there can be regulations, rules or legal standing that can regulate the Pilkades. So, there are organizers, supervisors and of course if there is a dispute it can be resolved properly," concluded Police Inspector General Merdisyam.
