The Central Java Regional Police will alert 356 integrated service posts or checkpoints on five roads in Central Java Province during the Christmas and New Year 2022 holidays. The five roads include the north coast lane, toll lane, middle lane, south lane, and south–south lane.
Chief of Central Java Regional Police, Police Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi, said his party would hold the Lilin Candi Operation 2021 for security during Christmas and New Year holidays. "From December 24, 2021, to January 2, 2022. We will set up posts at the border between cities, within cities and at toll road rest areas," he explained, Friday (12/17/21).
The establishment of the post aims to serve the community, including the enforcement of health protocol. The Chief of Regional Police emphasized that the establishment of the post was also intended to ensure that community activities during Christmas and New Year ran smoothly.
"However, we urge the public to continue to comply with the health protocol, prioritizing safety, especially on the highway. We are trying our best, so that community activities run safely and smoothly," he explained.
The Central Java Regional Police will also deploy 14,422 personnel in the Lilin Candi operation later. 8,800 Indonesian National Police personnel were involved, plus 1,104 Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel, 992 Department of Transportation personnel and 3,526 related stakeholder personnel.
“There will be a checkpoint at the inter-city border, but it is not a barrier. The checkpoint is to control and supervise the traffic of the people and incoming goods," explained the Chief of Regional Police.
The Two-Stars General also said that people who will travel outside the region must complete various requirements by the provisions during the Covid-19 pandemic. "They must prepare an Exit Letter and a certificate of having received a Covid-19 vaccination," explained the Chief of Regional Police.
Meanwhile, Traffic Director of the Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Agus Suryonugroho, stated that his party anticipates the potential for an increase in currents during Christmas and New Year. Several technical steps such as flow diversion, Contraflow and other strategies have been prepared if the flow increase is significant. "We are still coordinating with the Department of Transportation to estimate the percentage increase in traffic. For other steps, such as implementing odd-even on toll roads, the possibility is still being studied by the centre," he explained.
