Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafi, has appointed Brigadier General Alexander Sabar as Acting Director General of Digital Supervision in the Ministry.

“Collaboration between the Ministry and law enforcement agencies is crucial, especially during critical times like these, to tackle the increasingly complex digital threats, particularly online gambling, which severely harms the public,” she announced on Monday (25/11/2024).

The appointment of General Alexander, which brings extensive experience in cybercrime law enforcement and digital supervision, was  based on Presidential Regulation No. 174 of 2024 mandating the ministry to set up a new directorate focusing on digital crimes.

The ministry emphasized that urgent issues, including data theft and illegal content dissemination, require strong coordination with law enforcement.

"This role aims to bolster public trust in the security of Indonesia's digital ecosystem," Minister Meutya added, as reported by antaranews.com..

General Alexander’s appointment had been mandated by a police directive issued on 18 November 2024, assigning him to this role from his position at the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
