Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Bank, Bank Indonesia (BI), has announced a suspension of all operational activities on Wednesday (27/11/2024), in observance of the regional elections in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 33 of 2024, which declares Election Day a national holiday.
"On Election Day, Bank Indonesia will not operate its Real Time Gross Settlement System (BI-RTGS), Scripless Securities Settlement System (BI-SSSS), or Electronic Trading Platform (BI-ETP)," said Ramdan Denny Prakoso, the Executive Director of BI’s Communications Department, in a statement on Tuesday (26/11/2024).
Services such as the National Clearing System (SKNBI), Cash Operations, Monetary Operations for both rupiah and foreign currencies, as well as the publication of key financial rates, including JIBOR, IndONIA, and JISDOR, will also be suspended.
The decision grants financial institutions the autonomy to determine their own operations during the holiday.
"This policy ensures alignment with the national holiday declaration, allowing citizens and institutions to fully participate in the democratic process," Ramdan added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Operations will resume as normal the following day, ensuring continuity in financial services across the country.
