Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is partnering with civil society organizations (CSOs) to develop an AI-based tool for detecting deepfake content—including fake videos, images, and audio.
Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, the Head of Human Resources Development at the Ministry, said on Friday (267/6/2025) the initiative responds to growing concerns over the misuse of AI technology.
"Our civil society partners are developing a tool, currently in soft-launch, that can verify content across formats—text, video, image, and audio," he explained, as reported by antaranews.com
One of the key collaborators is the Indonesian Anti-Slander Society (Mafindo), and the platform builds upon the CekFakta initiative by integrating AI for broader verification.
Beyond detection, the Ministry emphasizes the need for digital ethics education, urging content creators to disclose whether their material is AI-generated or real.
While specific regulations on AI-generated content are not yet in place, Bonifasius confirmed that governance of deepfakes will be part of Indonesia’s upcoming National AI Roadmap currently in preparation.
