inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Customs and Excise personnel, along with the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s Criminal Investigation Unit, raided a crystal methamphetamine manufacturing laboratory in Sunter, North Jakarta, and confiscated 13 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.

"This case was uncovered as a result of a series of international shipment surveillance operations and information development efforts that took place over three days, Friday-Sunday, February 13-15, 2026. The operation was conducted at several locations, including apartments in Pluit and Sunter areas, and a restaurant in East Jakarta," said R. Syarif Hidayat, Director of Narcotics Interdiction at Customs and Excise, in a statement on Wednesday (2/18/2026).

Director Syarif explained that the case began with the suspicions of Customs officers while inspecting a postal shipment from Iran using an X-ray scanner at the Pasar Baru Post Office on Thursday (2/12/2026).

Officers discovered blue crystals hidden in the wall of a leather box, which, after testing, tested positive for the Class I narcotic, methamphetamine, weighing approximately 11.56 kilograms.

The evidence was then handed over to the police for controlled delivery. Following the development of this case, on Friday (2/13/2026), officers arrested an Iranian citizen with the initials KKF as the recipient of the package at an apartment in Pluit.

Furthermore, the team arrested another suspect, an Iranian citizen with the initials SB, who is suspected of mixing the methamphetamine. On the same day, the team also raided an apartment in Sunter that was being used as a methamphetamine manufacturing lab.

At the laboratory, officers found an additional 1,683 grams of methamphetamine along with various production equipment such as a portable stove, scales, chemical solutions, a powder grinder, and processing waste. Then, on Sunday (2/15/2026), a joint team conducted a forensic crime scene investigation.

"This finding confirms that the network acted as a recipient of goods and also reproduced narcotics domestically," he said. Director Syarif also emphasized that this disclosure is crucial for public safety.

"This action is a concrete form of public protection. Every kilogram of narcotics prevented from being distributed means we are preventing potential harm to thousands of young people and safeguarding the social resilience of Indonesian families," Director Syarif emphasized.
