Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met senior Turkish military leaders in Ankara on Friday to discuss bilateral defense cooperation, focusing on military industry development and strategic capacity building.

“Indonesia sees Türkiye as a strategic partner in strengthening national defense independence,” he said during the meeting at the ASELSAN defense complex, as reported by antaranews.com on Saturday (10/1/2026)

The talks involved the Chief of the Turkish Armed Forces and covered potential collaboration in defense manufacturing, technology transfer, and long-term industrial ecosystems. 

Minister Sjafrie emphasized that cooperation should support sustainable defense industries, enhance troop professionalism, and strengthen capabilities amid evolving global security dynamics.

The visit also included a tour of ASELSAN facilities to review Türkiye’s defense technology capabilities.
