Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Defense is mobilizing the Indonesian Military (TNI) to mass-produce affordable medicines for public consumption, aiming to improve national drug access and reduce market prices.
“This initiative addresses national pharmaceutical needs and aims to lower medicine prices,” said Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin on Tuesday (22/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The medicines will be produced by pharmaceutical labs under the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force, consolidated into a national defense pharmacy unit. Previously, these labs served only TNI personnel. Now, they will supply civilians through the Red and White Cooperatives outlets.
Minister Sjafrie assured that all medicines meet national safety and quality standards.
Head of the Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), Taruna Ikrar, welcomed the collaboration, citing TNI’s strong production capacity and disciplined personnel..
