Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Denpasar City Sub-regional Police have confiscated 1,419 grams of cocaine from a British citizen, identified as BJ (53), during a raid at a hotel in Legian, Bali.
The suspect, who arrived in Indonesia last December on a tourist visa, was arrested after authorities discovered four packages of the high-grade narcotic concealed inside a suitcase.
“The suspect claimed he received the packages with a promised reward of Rp1 billion and was acting as a temporary custodian for an international syndicate,” explained Denpasar Police Chief Senior Superintendent Leonardo David Simatupang during a press conference on Wednesday (25/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Valued at nearly Rp 6 billion, the seizure highlighted ongoing efforts to uncovere foreign drug networks operating in Bali. Investigators are currently tracing the source and intended recipients of the cargo. Due to the significant volume of narcotics involved, the suspect faces the death penalty under Article 114 of the Narcotics Law.
