Inp.polri.go.id - Mecca. Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Romo HR Muhammad Syafi’i praised the dedication of Indonesian Hajj officers during the peak Hajj phases at Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina in Saudi Arabia.
Visiting several service points, he witnessed firsthand how officers endured fatigue and lack of rest.
“I saw them all thin and exhausted, not getting proper rest — it’s extraordinary,” Deputy Romo said, as reported by antaranews.com on Saturday (8/6/2025).
He noted that about 90% of officers performed well, while others were simply too physically tired to continue and needed rest.
Addressing reports of Indonesian pilgrims getting lost at Jamarat, Deputy Minister Romo highlighted the need for improved coordination with Saudi authorities. He said some Saudi officers mistook Indonesian personnel for regular pilgrims, denying them access to assist pilgrims.
“There must be communication with the Saudi government so our officers aren’t treated like ordinary pilgrims,” he stressed, calling for standardized ID or clearance badges and emphasizing a full evaluation of transportation and service systems during the Hajj.
