Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. A doctor is currently on trial at the Denpasar District Court, facing accusations of malpractice in connection with the medical treatment of an Australian tourist during her visit to Bali.

During the hearing on Tuesday (22/10/2024), the prosecutor said that on 14 February 2024,  the doctor, identified as  Dr. Shillea Olimpia Melyta (30), administered medication to Australian tourist Jamie Irena Rayer Keet, despite knowing about her documented drug allergies.

Shortly after the treatment, Keet experienced facial swelling, breathing difficulties, and other severe allergic reactions.

Keet's husband later found that the medication contained substances she was allergic to, which was recorded in her medical history. The prosecution also pointed out inconsistencies between the clinic's medical records.

Dr. Melyta is charged under the Health Law and could face up to three years in prison.
