Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan has assured the public that their funds remain secure even if their dormant bank accounts are temporarily blocked by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
“We will coordinate with PPATK and related stakeholders to ensure the protection of public funds stored in banks,” he said in a press release on Wednesday (30/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The PPATK had earlier announced it had frozen around 28,000 inactive accounts in 2024 to prevent misuse for criminal purposes. These dormant accounts are seen as vulnerable to being used in illegal activities such as online gambling, fraud, and drug trafficking.
PPATK head Ivan Yustiavandana explained the move aims to protect account holders and safeguard the integrity of Indonesia’s financial system.
Meanwhile, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has also instructed banks to report suspicious transactions and block accounts suspected of being used in financial crimes.
