Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stressed on Thursday (25/9/2025) that the DPR’s role in the Indonesian National Police (INP)’s reform agenda is limited to oversight, while the establishment of reform teams and committees lies entirely with the executive branch.
“I don’t know the names of the nine members of the police reform commission. I’m not the government. I don’t think there are DPR representatives there—it’s the executive’s business,” he told reporters at the DPR complex, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The Deputy House Speaker explained that the DPR, through Commission III, will oversee the reform process but will not interfere with executive matters. He said that the special team currently set up by the INP is a preparatory body tasked with data collection and subgroup division, meant to support the presidentially appointed reform commission.
Deputy Speaker Dasco underlined that parliament will continue monitoring the reforms to ensure they align with public interest and the principles of the rule of law.
