inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) estimates the potential value of illegal drug transactions in Indonesia to reach IDR 524 trillion per year.
"Therefore, in the strategic plan for the 2025-2029 period, BNN plans to strengthen resources and infrastructure so that it can be more optimal in handling drug problems," said BNN Main Secretary Tantan Sulistyana, as quoted from Antaranews on Tuesday.
In a meeting with the Ministry of National Development Planning in Jakarta, Tantan said that the development of drug threats is now increasingly complex and worrying, both in terms of the prevalence of drug abuse in Indonesia and in the world.
Tantan explained that one of the main objectives of the BNN Strategy 2025-2029, with the them Clean from Drugs for Superior Human Resources, Advanced Indonesia Towards Golden Indonesia 2045, is to create superior human resources (HR) that are free from the influence of drugs.
This is an important step in supporting the achievement of the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 with healthy and quality human resources.
However, Tantan did not deny that there were challenges in carrying out his duties, including limited human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and limited budget.
Therefore, the Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy agreed that drugs are a serious problem that must be handled immediately, systematically and comprehensively.
Rachmat also expressed his willingness to support the BNN in seeking to fulfill strategic needs, both in terms of budget, institutional strengthening, and increasing infrastructure and resources.
In this regard, the Head of the BNN, Commissioner General of Police. Marthinus Hukom expressed his appreciation for the support of the Minister of National Development Planning and his staff in supporting the implementation of P4GN.
Marthinus also emphasized his commitment to continue working hard to support the programs of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in handling drug problems in the country in order to realize an Indonesia that is free from drugs.
