inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police Traffic Directorate held Operation Patuh Cartenz 2026 from October 26 to November 8, 2026. During the operation, police identified eight targets for traffic violations in an effort to improve driver discipline and reduce the risk of road accidents.

Citing information from the Papua Regional Police Traffic Directorate's Instagram account, Monday (10/26/2026), one of the main targets of the operation was drivers using cell phones while driving. This activity can distract attention and increase the risk of accidents.

Further targets were underage drivers who had not met the required driving requirements, as well as motorcyclists carrying more than one passenger.

Police also took action against motorcyclists who did not wear helmets meeting the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) and car drivers who did not wear seat belts. Both of these items play a crucial role in protecting drivers and passengers in the event of an accident.

Furthermore, Operation Patuh Cartenz 2026 targeted drivers driving under the influence of alcohol. This behavior is considered to endanger the safety of themselves and other road users.

Other violations of concern include driving against traffic and exceeding the speed limit. Both actions have the potential to trigger accidents and endanger road users.

The eighth target includes vehicles violating dimensions and load regulations, known as over-dimension-over-load (ODOL), as well as vehicles using exhausts that do not comply with technical specifications.

Through this operation, the Papua Regional Police Traffic Directorate urges the public to comply with traffic regulations, complete vehicle documents, use safety equipment, and obey signs and speed limits.

The police also remind the public not to prioritize speed over safety. Compliance with traffic regulations is expected to create a safe, orderly, and comfortable journey for all road users in Papua.

Operation Patuh Carstensz 2026 is expected to not only increase public compliance but also raise awareness that traffic safety is a shared responsibility.
