Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded for more than 12 hours after flooding from the Batang Pasaman River cut off a national road in Aia Gadang, West Pasaman, West Sumatra.
The water level reached over one meter, halting all traffic since Wednesday night.
“Traffic is completely cut because the road is submerged. As of 8 am, vehicles have been stuck for 12 hours,” said West Pasaman Police Operations Chief Senior Inspector Muzhendra on Thursday (27/11/2025)< as reported by antaranews.com.
The line of stranded vehicles stretches up to two kilometers, blocking access to six districts and routes heading to North Sumatra.
A second route, the Padang–Bukittinggi highway , was also disrupted after the Batang Anai River overflowed, submerging roads in Pasar Usang, Padang Pariaman. Several motorcycles stalled as drivers attempted to cross rising water.
Authorities warned motorists to avoid forcing passage through floodwaters.
Flooding and landslides happened across 10 of 11 districts in West Sumatra, with evacuations underway and a one-week emergency response status declared.
