Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Thursday (8/1/2026) that a minor Indonesian citizen was arrested by Jordanian police in May 2025 on suspicion of supporting ISIS terror group through online activities.
The case is currently being handled by a juvenile court in Amman, with legal proceedings ongoing.
Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Foreign Ministry, Heni Hamidah, said the arrest was reported to the Indonesian Embassy in Amman by the Indonesian diaspora.
“The arrest was linked to alleged online activities indicating support for ISIS,” she said, as reported by antaranews.com.
The child has attended five court hearings, with the next session scheduled for 13 January 2025. The Indonesian government, through the embassy, has coordinated closely with Jordanian authorities to ensure child protection principles are upheld.
The embassy has also visited the detention facility and confirmed the child is in good condition. The Foreign Ministry said it will continue monitoring the case to safeguard the minor’s rights throughout the legal process.
