Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government has awarded a total of Rp 465.25 billion in performance bonuses to national athletes and officials who won medals at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
The incentives were formally handed over at the State Palace on Thursday (8/1/2026).
Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir said the bonuses reflect state appreciation for athletes who exceeded expectations.
“The President is very proud of the 91 gold medals, so the gold medal bonus was doubled to Rp 1 billion per athlete,” he said, as cited by antaranews.com.
Indonesia won 333 medals, including 91 golds, surpassing the government’s initial target of 80 gold medals. Bonus amounts vary by category, with Rp 1 billion for individual gold medalists, Rp 800 million for doubles, and Rp 500 million for team events.
The bonuses will be transferred directly to recipients’ bank accounts, while income tax obligations will be covered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
