Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The joint security forces evacuated four gold miners who survived an armed assault by separatist rebels in Bingki, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains.
The attack, carried out on 21 September 2025 by the armed criminal group (KKB), killed two miners.
“Joint military-police forces evacuated the four survivors, who ran into the forest to escape gunfire,” said Papua Regional Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Cahyo Sukarnito on Saturday (27/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The survivors, identified as Berty, Bakri Laode, Febri, and Tarim Baroba, were taken to the Yahukimo Sub-regional Police headquarters in Dekai for questioning and medical checks.
Yahukimo Police Chief Superintendent Zeth Zalino said the evacuation team came under fire from KKB during the operation. A brief firefight ensued, but no security personnel were injured. The miners were found near Kali Kabur around 6.30 am local time.
