Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto said he will summon the head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, to discuss recent food poisoning cases linked to the government’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
“I just returned from overseas seven days ago and have been monitoring the issue. I will immediately call the BGN chief and several officials to discuss it,” he told reporters at Halim Airbase on Saturday (27/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The president acknowledged that MBG, a large-scale national program, faces early challenges but insisted its mission must remain clear: providing nutritious meals for children who often struggle to eat properly.
“We must be cautious not to let this be politicized. The goal is for our children, many of whom only eat rice with salt,” he said.
BGN reported 70 poisoning incidents affecting 5,914 people between January and September. The agency vowed stricter inspections and immediate shutdowns of non-compliant kitchens.
