Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Indonesian Consulate in Vanimo, Papua New Guinea (PNG) has confirmed that four Indonesian citizens are currently being held in Daru Prison, Western Province.
The specific reasons for their arrest remain unclear.
Consul Aleksander Tangkuman said on Wednesday (23/4/2025) that the information was received directly from prison authorities.
“We were informed by officers at Daru Prison that four Indonesians are being detained. They are reportedly from Merauke, South Papua,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Western Province in PNG borders Merauke and Boven Digoel in Indonesia’s South Papua Province, making cross-border movement a frequent issue, often involving undocumented crossings.
