Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has announced a reduction in the Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (PBBKB) from 10% to 5% for private vehicles, and to just 2% for public transport.
“This decision reflects our commitment to making life more affordable for Jakarta’s citizens and supporting sustainable transport,” he said on Wednesday (23/4/2025) at City Hall.
The new rates are a revision from the existing policy under Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 1 of 2024, which implemented the tax hike during the previous administration. The move follows the authority granted by the 2022 law on fiscal relations between central and regional governments.
While the PBBKB is collected from fuel distributors and not directly from consumers, the impact is typically felt at the fuel pump. This tax applies to all motor fuel used by vehicles and heavy machinery in Jakarta, according to antaranews.com.
The Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency clarified that this change only applies to fuel consumed within the city, as part of efforts to stimulate regional economic activity and ensure smarter fuel consumption. Governor Pramono said that the supporting regulation) will be finalized and socialized soon.
