Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Despite rainy weather, thousands of residents gathered at Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta, to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2026 under the theme “Jakarta Global City: From Jakarta With Love.”
“This celebration reflects Jakarta’s spirit of love and solidarity, especially for disaster-affected communities,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, highlighting the city’s donation drive for disaster relief, which collected Rp3.1 billion for Sumatra flood victims.
The event featured live music performances, drone shows, and the presence of religious leaders across Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism, fostering interfaith unity. Jakarta’s New Year festivities extended beyond HI Roundabout to multiple locations, including Kota Tua, Ancol, Lapangan Banteng, and Setu Babakan, accommodating diverse public participation.
Notably, fireworks were replaced with prayers and donations, emphasizing empathy and solidarity over spectacle, marking a shift toward socially conscious celebrations.
