Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) plans to expand its fleet by 15-20 aircraft in 2025, CEO Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan announced in a press conference on Friday (6/12/2024).
“Our target is to add 15-20 aircraft in 2025, which requires coordination and cooperation with relevant ministries,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
He noted that Garuda has already received one aircraft, currently being painted and refurbished, and expects another by the end of December, with two more in January 2025.
The Indonesian government is also exploring partnerships with major aircraft manufacturers like Boeing, Airbus, Russia’s producers, or China’s COMAC to meet the growing demand for planes.
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir stressed the importance of increasing the country’s fleet size, saying Indonesia, as an archipelagic nation, cannot afford to maintain its current fleet for another decade.
The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, the Ministry of Transportation and the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) are working on facilitating investments and streamlining processes to support the fleet expansion.
