Inp.polri.go.id - Bandarlampung. In response to extreme weather at Bakauheni Port, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry and the Lampung Regional Police have implemented ticket restrictions to manage passenger and vehicle flow.
Senior Superintendent Umi Fadilah Astutik, the Lampung Police Head of Public Relations, said on Thursday (5/12/2024) that this measure is necessary to prevent vehicle congestion caused by delays during rough sea conditions.
“Since yesterday, we have limited ticket sales to avoid a buildup of vehicles unable to depart due to adverse weather,” said she, as quoted by antaranews.com..
The decision follows a warning from the Lampung Maritime Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), which forecasts extreme conditions, including waves up to 4 meters, in Lampung’s waters. These conditions are expected to persist until at least 7 December 2024.
“This step is crucial to ensure passenger safety and maintain order at Bakauheni Port during the ongoing extreme weather,” Chief Umi added.
BMKG has advised caution for all maritime activities in the area, highlighting the potential risks to passenger and freight transport.
