Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s capital will officially relocate to Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) in 2028, despite concerns over a budget freeze, Golkar Party Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed on Saturday (8/2/2025).
"This remains President Prabowo Subianto’s target. Construction is ongoing, and the completion strategy is handled by the Public Works Ministry," he said after Golkar Party’s 2025 National Working Meeting.
Chairman Bahlil, who is also the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, also noted that not all political leaders are familiar with the IKN development process.
"Just because someone is a party chairman doesn’t mean they know everything," he remarked, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works clarified that the budget freeze is a routine procedure and not related to spending cuts under Presidential Instruction No. 1/2025. "
It’s a different matter," said the Ministry’s Secretary-General Mohammad Zainal Fatah, assuring that the blocked funds will not impact operations.
