inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Food (Menko Pangan), Zulkifli Hasan, ensured that food prices during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year period are safe and under control.

"Food prices during Christmas and New Year are safe and under control," said the Coordinating Minister for Food, Wednesday (12/18/24).

He explained that the current food stock is more than sufficient so there is no concern regarding the availability of basic necessities.

"Food stocks are more than sufficient, so it is very safe," added the Coordinating Minister for Food.

The abundance of food stocks is also the basis for the government's decision not to import four main commodities, namely rice, corn, sugar, and salt, in 2025.

"Therefore, we have decided that there will be no imports next year," said the Coordinating Minister for Food.

He ensured that the national food supply is safe even in the midst of potential extreme weather. This includes the stock of rice available at Bulog, retail, and retailers, which is sufficient for needs during Christmas and New Year.

The Coordinating Minister for Food said that the government will not import sugar in 2025, considering that domestic sugar stocks are estimated to reach 1.4 million tons, plus production of 2.6 million tons.

"Consumption sugar production will be increased by developing new seeds, improving plantation management, and collaborating with SMEs," explained the Coordinating Minister for Food.

Meanwhile, for salt the government is targeting production to reach 2.25 million tons in 2025, to meet domestic needs of 1.76 million tons.

The government is also targeting corn production for animal feed of 16.68 million tons in 2025. This target far exceeds domestic needs, which are estimated at 13 million tons.

With these strategic steps, the Coordinating Minister for Food is optimistic that national food security will be maintained without dependence on imports. "We continue to strengthen domestic production to maintain food stability," he concluded.
