The government will seize money belonging to online gambling operators and players under court rulings, marking a new breakthrough in combating digital economic crimes, Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said on Tuesday (4/11/2025).
“The state has the right to confiscate the money of online gambling operators and players based on a court decision. The ruling process can be completed within seven days according to the law,” he said at the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) headquarters, as reported by antaranews.com.
Minister Yusril explained that the measure refers to Articles 64 to 67 of Law No. 8/2010 on the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering. He noted that gambling proceeds qualify as criminal assets, especially when funneled through financial systems or digital wallets, often using cryptocurrency.
The minister urged law enforcement to fully apply these provisions, emphasizing that “the state must not lose to online gambling syndicates that destroy the nation’s moral and economic foundation.”
