Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Corrections transferred 15 high-risk inmates from SalembaPrison in Jakarta to Karanganyar Special Prison, Nusakambangan Island, Central Java, on Wednesday (26/11/2025).
The relocation was carried out under strict protocols to strengthen security and improve supervision in high-risk correctional facilities.
“The transfer is crucial to maintaining regional security, especially in Nusakambangan, which serves as a holding center for high-risk inmates,” said Central Java Corrections Office Head Mardi Santoso said, as reported by antaranews.com.
The inmates departed Salemba Prison under escort by the Corrections’ Security and Intelligence personnel, Salemba Prison officers, and police forces. Upon arrival at Nusakambangan Island, the Safety and Order Task Force conducted administrative and identity checks before moving them into Karanganyar Prison.
Nusakambangan Island Regional Coordinator Irfan said the operation ran safely and followed standard procedures, applying early detection and maximum security.
The Corrections Office noted that the transfer supports President Prabowo Subianto’s security priorities and forms part of Minister Agus Andrianto’s 13 acceleration programs, including resolving overcrowding in Indonesian prisons.
