Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has urged parents and caregivers to immediately bring their children to nearby health facilities, such as community health centers, such as Posyandu or Puskesmas, for measles immunization amid a growing outbreak.

“We call on all parents and caregivers to take their children to health facilities that provide immunization services,” said Prima Yosephine, the Director of Immunization at the Health Ministry, during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (26/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

She explained that measles vaccination is part of the National Immunization Program, scheduled at 9 months, 18 months, and again in the first grade of primary school. At minimum, children must receive two doses, at ages 9 and 18 months.

As of 24 August 2025, authorities recorded 46 measles outbreaks across 42 districts in 14 provinces, including Sumenep, East Java, with 2,139 suspected cases, 205 confirmed, and 17 deaths.

Director Prima warned that measles spreads even faster than COVID-19 but stressed it can be prevented through timely immunization.
