inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Tomsi Tohir, has asked regional governments to support the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) in implementing the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program to stabilize rice prices in the regions.
"Bulog cannot do it alone, local leaders in the regions have to immediately expand this program and help sell SPHP rice so that prices can quickly decrease," said Secretary General Tomsi on Tuesday (8/19/2025).
According to him, the rising rice prices in several regions are a challenge that must be addressed by all parties, including Perum Bulog and regional governments. Multi-sectoral efforts are needed to reduce rice prices and maintain affordability for the public.
Tomsi reminded that the government has currently provided sufficient rice stocks for the public. This needs to be supported by rapid and optimal distribution, as rice quality often deteriorates.
He urged local governments to invite Bulog in their respective regions so that rice supplies could be immediately distributed to the community.
Furthermore, Tomsi warned regions to be wary of rising prices for a number of commodities, such as shallots, red chilies, chicken eggs, and cooking oil. Specifically regarding cooking oil, he urged the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) to optimize MinyaKita supplies.
