inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto called for the importance of honest leadership and clean governance as the key to the revival of Islamic countries from poverty, inequality, and various other global challenges.

This call was delivered by Prabowo when officially opening the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/14/2025) evening.

"We are facing challenges where these challenges are our sources of weakness, namely poverty, hunger, corruption, educational inequality, and the inability to manage and maintain our respective resources," noted Prabowo

In his speech, Prabowo also welcomed the theme of this year's PUIC meeting, namely "PUIC Silver Jubilee - Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience", which is considered very relevant and urgent.

The Head of State emphasized that the revival of Islamic countries must start from how each state can overcome internal problems first.

"Without good and strong governance, without honest leaders, the country will never have resilience, let alone competitiveness," he said.

Prabowo also reminded of the glorious history of Islamic civilization that once led in science and technology.

The President cited great figures such as Umar bin Khattab and Muhammad Al-Fatih as symbols of just, courageous leadership that is oriented towards the welfare of the people.
