Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian House of Representatives Chairperson Puan Maharani asked the government to provide protection and their best service to Indonesians affected by earthquake in Japan.
“The government has to provide the best service to our citizens living in Japan. The government has to ensure that those who were evacuated get what they need, particularly the logistics and medical facilities,” says Puan on Friday (1/5/2024).
Although reports said no Indonesians were harmed, however there are around 105 Indonesians evacuated following the 7.6 earthquake.
Currently, Indonesian Ambassador for Japan in Tokyo and Osaka Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia continuously communicated with local authorities and Indonesian communities in Japan to acquire information.
The evacuated Indonesians were spread into three locations which are Ogi, Suzu, and Sakai. The earthquake reportedly has cause tsunamis in several coastal areas.
“The logistic aids must be quickly moved to the evacuation posts, particularly aids for babies, children, pregnant women, and the elderly,” asked Puan.
Puan also ordered the government to continuously monitor Indonesian citizen situation in Japan and emphasized the safety of Indonesians abroad is a priority.
