Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesia Anti-Doping Organization (IADO) has revealed that several athletes from the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh and North Sumatra tested positive for prohibited substances, with at least one case involving dangerous narcotics.
"A number of athletes are indicated to have used banned substances, and one athlete specifically is suspected of using narcotics, namely methamphetamine and amphetamines," said IADO Chairman Gatot S. Dewa Broto in Jakarta on Saturday (14/3/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The violations were uncovered following laboratory testing of urine samples at a World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited facility in Bangkok, Thailand. IADO has formally coordinated with the National Narcotics Board (BNN) regarding the criminal implications under the Narcotics Law, while requesting that sports disciplinary proceedings be completed before public disclosure.
Chairman Gatot issued a stern warning to all national athletes that using stimulants or narcotics not only creates an unfair competitive advantage but also carries severe long-term legal consequences and significant health risks.
