Vice Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Moh Rano Alfath, expressed his appreciation for the increasing level of public trust and satisfaction with the performance of the Indonesian National Police (INP), as reflected in the results of the Kompas Research and Development Survey.
According to him, this achievement indicates that the public is beginning to perceive positive changes in various aspects of service and law enforcement carried out by the police institution.
Rano believes that public trust is growing due to directly felt improvements, ranging from service to the public, law enforcement, the presence of officers in the field, to the Polri's commitment to maintaining security and order.
"This achievement deserves appreciation. Public trust cannot be built solely through narratives, but must be demonstrated through consistent, concrete action. When the public begins to perceive changes in service, law enforcement, and the presence of the state through the Polri, that trust will grow naturally," Rano told reporters on Friday (6/26/2026).
Furthermore, Rano stated that Commission III of DPR RI has examined several steps taken by INP, including eradicating online gambling, handling cybercrime, eradicating drug trafficking, handling human trafficking (TPPO), and strengthening digital-based public services. He believes these efforts must be accompanied by a commitment to maintaining institutional integrity.
"Firmness against individuals is a crucial message that there is no room for abuse of authority within the police force. In fact, the courage to take action against our own members is part of the effort to build a professional, clean, and trusted institution. Accountability is the main foundation of law enforcement," he said.
He also considered the ratification of the amendments to the Police Law to be a crucial momentum for strengthening the police institution in facing the dynamics of evolving security challenges. He believes that strengthening regulations must be accompanied by increased responsibility to the public.
