Inp.polri.go.id - Sydney. President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the importance of maintaining strong and friendly ties between Indonesia and Australia, calling both nations “neighbors who must always stand by each other.”
“In Indonesian culture, we have a saying, in times of crisis, your neighbor is the first to help. Our families may be far away, but only good neighbors come to each other’s aid,” he said during a joint statement with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese aboard the HMAS Canberra in Sydney on Wednesday (12/11/2025).
The two leaders announced the conclusion of negotiations on a new bilateral security and defense agreement, marking what Prime MinisterAlbanese described as “a new chapter” in Indonesia-Australia relations.
President Prabowo said cooperation and goodwill are essential given the two countries’ unchangeable geography.
