Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi says Indonesia and China have the same stance in responding to the conflict between Israel and Iran.

The statement was conveyed by Retno after accompanying President Joko Widodo in his meeting with her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, at Istana Presiden, Jakarta.

“Throughout our discussion, the stance of China and Indonesia is the same in responding to the issue, and the president also conveyed his confidence that China would use their influence in preventing the conflict from escalating,” said Retno on Thursday (4/18/2024).

Since the latest conflict, triggered by Israel's assault against Iran Consulate in Damascus, started. Indonesia continues to intensify its diplomatic effort to prevent the conflict from escalating.

In its diplomatic effort, Minister Retno has talked with Iran and the United States of America, and other countries involved in the conflict to restrain themselves.

On the other hand, Jokowi and Yi have the same view that the Palestine-Israel conflict should be resolved with two-state solutions.

Moreover, they also exchanged opinions on the majority of states in the United Nations for their support towards Palestine.

“On this matter, I reaffirmed that Indonesia and China have the same view, that we support the full membership of Palestine in the United Nations,” said Retno in her closing statement.
