Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia and Australia have reaffirmed their shared commitment to combat terrorism and violent extremism through the 10th Bilateral Counter-Terrorism Consultation held in Jakarta on Thursday.
“This consultation is part of the implementation of the 2005-2029 Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Plan of Action, following the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on 15 May 2025,” said Commissioner General Eddy Hartono, the Head of Indonesia’s National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), in a statement on Saturday (26/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The two countries agreed to enhance cooperation through information exchange, joint research, seminars, capacity building via the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC), and civil society engagement, according to antaranews.com.
BNPT appreciated Australia's ongoing support, including through the Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ) Phase 3.
Australian Ambassador for Counter-Terrorism Gemma Huggins emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration, stating the bilateral counter-terrorism partnership remains a cornerstone of their strategic security relationship.
