Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced that negotiations for the Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA) have been substantially completed.

“The ICA-CEPA negotiations have reached a substantial conclusion,” he said in an official statment on Sunday (17/11/2024). 

Final details are being worked out, with the signing of a Joint Ministerial Statement planned for2  December 2024, during Canadian Trade Minister Mary Ng’s visit to Jakarta.

Key areas of partnership include critical minerals for Indonesia’s downstream nickel industry, food security through agricultural technology, clean energy innovation supporting carbon neutrality by 2060, and defense industry collaboration.

On 15  November 2024, President Prabowo Subianto met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in Lima, Peru. The two leaders discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation.
